Design and preparation of new polymeric materials which are sensitive to changes in external conditions and which can be used for biomedical purposes. Preparation of polymer hydrogels with amphiphilic properties. Grafting and coating of bioactive functional units onto polymers. Characterization of the structure and properties of polymers by various physico-chemical methods, especially by solution and solid state NMR. Interaction and adsorption studies of small molecules with polymers. Study of the diffusion in polymer systems by pulsed-gradient spin-echo (PGSE) NMR techniques.
