Our research activities
involve the development of new transition metals containing
catalysts that mediate fundamentally interesting and useful
organic reactions. We are particularly interested in the
development of novel enantioselective synthetic methodologies.
For example, we are currently developing a catalytic version
of the aldehyde olefination (Wittig) reaction using transition
metal carbenes. Olefination reactions are particularly important
in synthesis, since they form carbon-carbon bonds.
